No change at the top

The top three places are unchanged this week although the gap between Brothers Grimm in first and Vipers is now only two points. The Brothers lost heavily to Duo but Vipers won by 10-2 against Mac Too. Duo move up two places to fourth after their win but are still 11 points behind the Owls in third.

Not quite the heroics of last week but Rose Barton was still top scorer with 568 (640 with handicap) but without any 200+ games this week. John Bryer wasn't far behind with 554 (635). Rich Lester got the only 200 game tonight: 203 (230)

Tony Pearce was the only player to improve his high scores this week - his high game was 186 (235, the best of the week), 12 higher than previously.

The league scratch average improved by 0.1 to 148.8

XXXXXXXXXX9/ 289

Congratulations to Rose Barton who produced a wonderful game tonight and came within a whisker of the Monday Night league's and the Hollywood Bowl's first perfect game. Only the first bonus ball in the tenth frame didn't get a strike. Rose also hit a 213 game and ended with a 675 series (753 with handicap). She goes straight to the top of all of the individual high score lists and surely will not be beaten in the rest of the league.

Back in the mundane world of league standings: Brothers Grimm consolidated their lead at the top of the table and now lead Vipers in second by ten points and Owls in third by eleven. Mac Too stay in fourth, a further 15 points behind the Owls.

Paul Simmons improved his high game for this league in scoring 213 (257), the second best game tonight. Anita Highton improved her high series by three to 460 (604) which included the conversion of a difficult 4-10 split.

Martin Cook succeeded with an equally difficult 6-7 split and Keith MacFarlane converted a 6-7-10.

The league scratch average fell slightly to 148.7

Winter League 2006/7
Week 11, 20 November 2006

Another first v second clash involving the Owls this week. This time though they lost out to Turkeys 2-10, a wide enough margin for Turkeys to go to the top of the table by a point. Third place Vipers could only draw against X Factor but still made up ground on the Owls, now trailing them by only three points. Brothers Grimm remain in fourth place, only four points behind the leaders.
Alan and Rose Barton dominate the high score list this week: Alan hit the third best series of the league so far, 599 (665 with handicap) and the best game: 258 (280) while Rose had the second best game 216 (240). These two games were both in the same game of the match, and Dominoes now also have the best team game, both scratch and handicap, in the league (474 and 520)
Brian Grayson scored a new high game for the season: +7 to 209 (240) and Diane MacFarlane and Terry Damm both had new high series. Hit and Miss improved their high scratch series by 28 to 960 (1,224).

The league scratch average increased this week by 0.4 to 148.9
